When does Ramadan 2024 start?

RELIGIONS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – The Holy month of Ramadan is set to start soon, as millions of Muslims across London and the UK begin their month of fasting.

My London reported Ramadan remembers the month the Qur’an was first revealed as a guide for humanity to the Prophet Muhammad.

Those observing the month of Ramadan fast from dawn to sunset allowing them to devote themselves to the Muslim faith. It’s a time for increased prayer and charity, teaching self-discipline and empathy for those less fortunate.

Ramadan in London starts on Monday, March 11 with Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday, April 10. Eid-ul-Fitr is the festival which marks the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.

The dates of Ramadan change every year as the Islamic calendar is based on the cycles of the Moon. Ramadan this year lasts for 31 days.

Iftar and Suhoor are the meals eaten by Muslims during Ramadan. Iftar is the name of the meal eaten at sunset to break the fast and is an important meal for Muslims. After the Maghrib (sunset) prayer, Muslims gather with family and friends to enjoy a meal together to break their fast. It’s considered a blessed and joyous occasion during Ramadan.

Suhoor is the morning meal eaten before the sun has come up. Suhoor is typically a light meal eaten before the Fajr prayer, which is the first of the five daily prayers. Suhoor is considered important in Ramadan because it helps individuals sustain their energy levels throughout the day while they fast.
