Biden raised his concerns about China’s human rights abuses in Tibet with Xi Jinping

RELIGIONS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping met at the Filoli estate in Woodside, California, on November 15, 2023.

They discussed a wide range of issues, including global challenges, war, the climate crisis, the economy, trade and human rights in China.

After the four-hour meeting, the White house released a statement about their meeting and it stated, “President Biden underscored the universality of human rights and the responsibility of all nations to respect their international human rights commitments. He raised concerns regarding PRC human rights abuses, including in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong.”

When Xi Jinping arrived in the United States, large-scale protests were held by Tibetans, Hong Kongers, Uyghurs and Chinese near the APEC meeting centre against him. A flight carrying a banner flew over the Moscone Centre, the site of the APEC summit, reading: “End of the CCP, freedom for China, free Hong Kong, free Tibet, free Uyghur”.
