Followers of the minority Ahmadi Religion beaten violently at Turkish-Bulgarian border

RELIGIOUS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – Over 100 members of The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, a persecuted religious minority, who have presented themselves at the Turkish-Bulgarian border claiming asylum this morning have just been refused entry, violently beaten, pushed back and taken to Edirne public safety office.

Gunshots were fired at them, they were threatened and their belongings were thrown away.

The group includes women, children and the elderly. The 103 individuals have been subjected to extreme and systematic forms of religious persecution all across Muslim-majority countries because of their faith.

They had been beaten, imprisoned, kidnapped, humiliated and terrorized in countries like Iraq, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Azerbaijan and Thailand.

They had gathered in Turkey and were on their way to the Turkish-Bulgarian border to assume their human right to request asylum directly from the Bulgarian Border Police, in line with Article 58(4) of the Law on Asylum and Refugees (LAR), which states that asylum can be applied for with a verbal statement submitted in front of the border police.

This comes after all attempts to obtain a visa on humanitarian grounds had been unsuccessful.

The members of this religious minority have followed legal procedures in order to seek asylum as per internationally agreed-upon human rights laws.

The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light is a 501c3 US-based non-profit organization with Church status.

The members of the ahmadi religion of peace and light, have gone to the Turkish boarders and all they wanted was to pass to the Bulgarian boarders and seek asylum! They haven’t been respected or safe in their home country and their lives have been in danger. they go to seek the help and refuge, in return they get humiliation and injuries despite the elderly and children whom were present with them!!
Human rights organisations must take action and this cannot go unnoticed!

The photo on this article is completely misleading and has nothing to do with the incident that is being reported. There are video recordings and pictures relating to this incident taken which are all over YouTube, Tiktok etc but it’s certainly not the one shown here.

These people have committed no crime and were denied their Human Rights. The Turkish Government is a disgrace.

Denied basic human rights! When people enter illegally, countries then say if only you’d entered legally we wouldn’t have a problem, but yet when a persecuted oppressed people attempt to cross and seek asylum in another country in the most legal manner according to their laws, they are abused and violently attacked! What a display of injustice and hypocrisy, Turkey have really embarrassed themselves infront of the whole world.

Anyone who has eyes can see the brutality the members of the faith were subjected to, TURKEY failed to adhere to its own laws according to the countries own constitution.
The members of the faith made their intentions clear as day and EVERYTHING they did was absolutely LEGAL.
What’s even more shocking is that on the otherside Human Rights organisation were waiting to receive the members of the faith. However Turkey had arrested, beaten and detained all the members of the faith.

Turkey took it to the next level when it beat one of the members of the international press covering the story.

It’s time Turkey is called out for its own hypocrisy

The Turkish government is popular for oppression of other faiths and opinions and the world can’t continue accepting these violations of human rights anymore. What did these people do to beat them up brutally and arrest them? All they wanted was to save their lives from other oppressors who has persecuted them. It’s heartbreaking and a shame to oppress those that have seen already so much hardships

We demand that all 103 members of The Ahmadi Religion Of Peace And Light are given their human rights and are released .. this is not acceptable and it breaks my heart to hear this. They didn’t committ any crime and wanted to claim asylum and the Turkish Border refused. They violently beat them and pushed them back. Shots were fired and young kids were crying and the elderly were scared!

  14. Farzana says

The refugees had every right to cross the Turkish border into Bulgaria. They have not done anything illegal. They clearly have been denied their Human Rights by Turkey. So, in practicality, they don’t believe and respect Human Rights. They bend and twist their laws as they see fit, complete hypocrites.

  15. Nada musa says

It is absolutely disgusting how cruel and hypocritical the Turkish officials have been… thank you for the article but the picture is completely incorrect as the Ahmadi religion of peace and light members come from all the different nations across the globe

  16. Mohamed says

We, the believers in the Ahmadi religion of peace and light are facing death sentences if we ever get back to our countries.

The believers in Turkey were simply asking for asylum and didn’t want to gi to Bulgaria illegally.

Where are the human rights ?

  17. Zainab says

Such injustice! The country claims to be a helping hand for those who need but instead turned a blind eye on the 103 people asking for refuge… what a disgrace!!!

  18. Michelle says

Thank you for your article raising awareness of the governments religious persecution towards innocent members of our faith. They were already fleeing for their lives due to death threats from their own countries, to be met with violence and gunshots at the Turkey/Bulgarian border, instead of sanctuary. It’s a humanitarian crises that urgently needs our support

  19. Junaid says

Those people had committed no crime, they were seeking asylum. It’s their right to do so.

  20. Sarah says
