Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated at Lanarkshire mosque in England

RELIGIOUS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – Children and their families enjoyed Eid celebration at Lanarkshire mosque in England and the youngsters were served a lunch party and presented with gifts at the event in Bellshill.

“Daily Record” reported the specially-arranged event was for children to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

The Eid Milan party took place at Central Mosque in Bellshill and welcomed children with additional support needs as well as a number of SNP politicians.

Dr Mustafa Mulla said: “We had a very successful Eid event for children who attended with their families and enjoyed a fun presentation and lunch.

“The children received personalised Eid gifts, including their gift requests, and their siblings received goody bags as well. And children and parents received certificates for their achievements.”

Motherwell and Wishaw MP Marion Fellows and MSPs Claire Adamson and Stephanie Callaghan were among those in attendance at the celebration.

Clare Adamson MSP, for Motherwell and Wishaw, said: “Eid is a such a special time of year for Muslims in our community and around the world.

“It was an honour to share in the celebrations at Lanarkshire Mosque; we received such a warm welcome.

“Following the pandemic, it is wonderful to be able to share in these community gatherings once more. We had learned to take these moments for granted but I think there is a renewed appreciation for celebrations with friends and loved ones.

“My thanks must go to Dr Mulla and the Lanarkshire Muslim Welfare Society. Eid Mubarak and I wish all of my constituents a peaceful year ahead.”
