2022, the year of decline in Christianity and rise in non-religion

RELIGIONS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – As the last days of the year 2022 are passing and Christmas is coming, the year 2022 can be best described as the year of decline in Christianity and rise in non-religion in many countries including England and Wales.

The 2021 census results for England and Wales showed a decline in Christianity and rise in non-religion.

According to “Religion Media Center” 2022 was the year of the war in Ukraine, the death of the Queen, three prime ministers in Number Ten, countless ministers of state, a cost-of-living crisis so deep that families could not afford to feed their families or heat their homes.

Commentators noticed how religion wove through each strand of public life in this year, while making its own headlines in several major events, such as the Lambeth conference of bishops, the international Freedom of Religion or Belief conference in London.
