Pope: Jews and Christians, Why not brothers?

RELIGIONS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – “Jews and Christians have many religious heritages in common so they are highly capable of being brothers and try hard for peace”.

Pope Francis, meeting a delegation of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), in Vatican on November 22 2022, said the common religious heritage of Jews and Christians should be seen as an “incentive to act together” for a more fraternal and peaceful world.

Pope welcomed 200 members of the Executive Committee of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) lead by its President Ronald S. Lauder.

Pope described this meeting as testifying of friendship” between the Holy See and the Jewish communities.

He emphasized the religious heritage that Christians and Jews share should be regarded as “an incentive to act together to make the world more fraternal, fight against forms of inequality and promot greater justice.

He added the shared and mutual work will make peace possible in this word.

Pope said:” Peace will not remain an otherworldly promise and become a present reality in our world, if a joint-work is done for peace.”

As the world continues to be marred by war, which he reiterated is a “defeat for all humanity”, the Pope hence called for a joint effort to pave the way for peace.
