International Religious Freedom neglected in practice

RELIGIONS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – The International Religious Freedom is not appropriately practice in different countries of the world.

“Some discriminatory laws around the world has stopped the international religious freedom to be practiced” the “World Religious News” quoted Rashad Hussain, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom.

Speaking at an event titled “Comparative Perspectives on International Religious Freedom” he said discriminatory laws include apostasy or heresy laws.

Rashad Hussain emphasized the international religious freedom`s laws have been left on the books but at times neglected in practice.

The event was organized by Thomas More University (TMU) on November 3 2022.

Hussain considers the U.S. distinctly well suited to international religious freedom as a country founded on religious freedom and as it is a country of immigrants, who don’t forget their ancestors and, generations down the line, advocate and make sure their elected representatives do everything possible to stand up for religious values overseas.

Rabbi David Saperstein, lawyer and former U.S, Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, also said that serious religious oppression occurs in countries that have 80% of the world’s population.
