Muslim women call for board position in mosque in Australia

RELIGIONS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – Muslim women in Sydney, Australia complain about not being allowed to hold board position in Lakemba mosque in Sydney, Australia.
They accused the remarkable and influential New South Wales body of putting women aside.
Muslim women call for greater say running the Lebanese Muslim Association.
They said women can work at organizations but they are excluded from being members of board positions.
This is to say Lakemba Mosque is one of the biggest mosques in Australia and has more than 1000 members.
As the constitution written in 1961 being male over the age 0f 18, Muslim and Lebanese heritage are conditions for membership in LMA.
An amendment allowing women and Muslim people of diverse cultures to join LMA in needed.
