Shiite Muslims marked Moharram, mourned over the martyrdom of Imam Hussein(AS) in Paris

RELIGIOUS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – Hundreds of Shiite Muslims from all over of France gathered in Wali-e Asr association center in Paris to hold Moharam procession and mourn over martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussein and his 72 companions in the battle of Karbala in the seventh century in present-day Iraq.

Religious News Agency (REDNA) reported the participants, wearing black clothes, from Islamic countries of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran marked Ashura by beating their chests and reciting elegies on Friday July 29 2023 in Paris, capital of France.

The mourning over the martyrdom of Imam Hossein and his companions ‘deaths reaches to its peak on Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram.

Muharram is among the holiest months for Shiite Muslims and marks the martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussein, and his 72 companions in the battle of Karbala in the seventh century in present-day Iraq.

Hojat-ul-Islam Wal Muslemin Dr. Fereshtyan while making speech at the Ashura procession in Paris said:” if there had not been Imam Hussein`s uprising, Muslims would evaluate Mohammad holy prophet(PBUH) Mu `awiya with the same measures.

“Islam had been derailed when Imam Hussein left Medina to Kufa in Iraq for uprising. Islam had gone ruined under Yazid`s misbehaviors, ignorance and corruptions as the caliphate of Islamic Ummah.” Dr. Freshtyan added

The religious scholar emphasized Imam Hussein uprising, in fact, revived Islam.

It is worth mentioning that holding Moharram procession of 1445 (Hijri year) by Shiite Muslims in Paris, the capital of France, amid the tensions over the recent Quran burning in some European countries was of it`s own importance.
