The Lady of Iran, Hazrat-e Fatima Masoumeh (as)

RELIGIOUS NEWS AGENCY (REDNA) – In the 200 AH, Mamoun, the Abbasid caliph, made a political decision for a forced migration. He called Imam Ar-Ridha(as) from Medina to Khorasan (a city in Iran). The 8th Imam made farewell to his family and companions leaving the beloved city of the Prophet (saw), never return again. The Calipha`s aim in this forced marriage was to diminish the name of the Prophet`s Ahl al-Bayt and to spread Tyranny through the Islamic lands.

He took Imam to Khorasan via a long route bypassing Qom and other Shia cities for fear that Shia would gather around the Imam, A year later, Imam invited his sister Masouma (as) to Khorasan; she was 27 years old.

Lady Fatima Masouma left Madinah for Khorasan and revived the name of the Prophet`s family in the lands wherein Islam had spread.

She revived the light of guidance of Ahl al-Bayt (as) and was martyred near Qom on the way to Khorasan without seeing her brother, the 8th Imam. Today the holy shrine of Fatima Masouma (as) in the holy city of Qom is the most magnificent and famous shrine in Iran after the shrine of Imam Ar-ridha (as). The shrine of lady Masouma attracts thousands of pilgrims and visitors from all corners of the glob every year, paying their respect to this noble lady and infallible sister of the Imam (as).
